Oil pressure light is on

A red oil can light while driving means oil pressure has dropped. Pull over safely and switch the engine off at once, as an engine without oil pressure can be damaged quickly. Say whether it stayed on or flickered in corners and what the dipstick showed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep driving?

No. Check the dipstick once the engine has cooled. If the level is low, top up. If the level is fine and the light stays on, do not restart the engine and arrange a tow.

What is the difference between red and amber oil warnings?

On many cars amber means low oil level and red means loss of pressure. The handbook gives the exact meaning, and if in doubt treat it as red.

How much does it cost?

The workshop sets the price. The offer shows the workshop's "from" price; the final price is clear once the car has been looked at. Remondikoda does not set or suggest prices.

Who chooses the workshop?

You do. You see offers with time, price and reviews and choose yourself. Remondikoda does not assign workshops.
