Heavy steering
Heavy steering points to a power steering fault. With hydraulic systems it is often the fluid, pump or belt, with electric steering a sensor or the power supply. Say whether it is heavy all the time or only from cold, and whether you hear a whine.

Frequently asked questions
Can I keep driving?
If the steering went heavy suddenly while driving, pull over safely. The car still steers without assistance but needs far more effort, which is dangerous in tight spots, so only a short drive to a workshop or a tow.
What can I check myself?
With hydraulic steering, check the fluid level in the reservoir and look for drips under the car. If the level keeps dropping there is a leak, and topping up alone will not fix it.
How much does it cost?
The workshop sets the price. The offer shows the workshop's "from" price; the final price is clear once the car has been looked at. Remondikoda does not set or suggest prices.
Who chooses the workshop?
You do. You see offers with time, price and reviews and choose yourself. Remondikoda does not assign workshops.
