Engine overheats
If the temperature gauge reaches red or the overheating warning comes on, pull over and switch the engine off. The cause can be a leak, thermostat, water pump, fan or head gasket. Say whether it overheats in traffic, on the open road or both.

Frequently asked questions
Can I top up coolant and carry on?
Never open the expansion tank on a hot engine, the coolant is under pressure. Let it cool first, then top up. If the temperature climbs again, stop driving: overheating can damage the cylinder head.
What should I tell the workshop?
Whether coolant is disappearing, whether the heater went cold before it overheated, any white steam, and whether the radiator fan comes on. These details help find the cause sooner.
How much does it cost?
The workshop sets the price. The offer shows the workshop's "from" price; the final price is clear once the car has been looked at. Remondikoda does not set or suggest prices.
Who chooses the workshop?
You do. You see offers with time, price and reviews and choose yourself. Remondikoda does not assign workshops.
